Sterling Media NW has been proudly serving businesses, cities and organizations since 2009. Over the time that Sterling Media Northwest has been in operation, we have had a really wonderful time getting to know our clients and their businesses. Part of the Sterling Media process is, in part, to get to know how things work in the day-to-day operations of the businesses and organizations that we serve, and it’s a part of our business model that we find both educational and very rewarding.

We started as a small agency with a variety of outside contractors that teamed up with us to provide the services that our clients needed. With our founder’s extensive background in television advertising, film and video production, we had a strong focus on visual marketing with TV and web. Our clients gave us further direction with a recognized need for branding and rebranding, website design and redesign, social media services, and increased need for quality graphic design.

As we expanded to meet these increasing client needs, Sterling Media NW began searching for top talent to recruit for our team, and opened up college internship offerings. We developed new in-house graphic design positions, expanded social media positions and expertise, and we extended our collective web design capabilities and services as well. During this growth period we also added another video producer and editor position, added another new Final Cut Pro editing suite, acquired more advanced HD cameras, more lenses, audio gear, studio components and lighting gear.

In a relatively short time, we grew from the principal and founder working with several contractors and collaborators, to a team of 7 to 9 people with a growing network of subcontractors and collaborators. In 2011 Troy began rebranding the agency with an updated mission and vision statement, evolving directive and a new logo. When Sterling Media hired Michelle Sargent, a graduate from the Savannah College of Art and Design to head up the in-house graphic design team, the agency was in another period of growth and reinvention. As the new office and studio on the business mezzanine of a local mall was opened, Michelle stepped up to help with the writing of new policies, procedures, contracts, price structures to fit the new direction Sterling Media Northwest was taking. She, Troy and the business office team helped to define a new foundation for the agency to help it evolve with the changing media landscape, and the subsequently evolving needs of our clientele. Before long Michelle moved to Creative Marketing Designer and then to a partner in the agency. From the beginnings in a home office, to 3 different office and studio locations over time, and now to soon be opening up a new office in Portland, Oregon and looking to continue expansion internationally, it’s clear Sterling Media Northwest is on the move.

Advanced technology and the advertising world undergoes the lightening fast evolution and transformation that is currently in process, we’ve all been forced to change and evolve as well. As our company goes through a sort of metamorphosis to grow into something better, we are looking to the future to see what we want to be and how best to reinvent ourselves in these changing times. As such, we are transforming into more of an employees-as-stakeholders, creative co-operative business model that will further empower our business and creative teams. Our enhanced focus is to provide the highest quality graphic design services for beautiful, consistent, image building and branding across every possible venue in which you can touch your audience. Creative video services with persuasive messaging for TV and web, and targeted digital marketing and media placement services for desktop, tablet, mobile, and wearable tech. Keep watching for more great things coming from Sterling Media Northwest.

Troy Sterling Woody has worked in various facets of the media business since his first gig on a live television show in Portland, Oregon in 1986. He founded Sterling Media Northwest as a new type of creative boutique ad agency to help businesses navigate the sometimes murky waters of today’s rapidly changing media choices and make a positive impact on the world around us:

  • A boutique ad agency that works with a select group of clients to create marketing success, by getting to know their company’s businesses almost as well as the owners themselves.
  • An agency with a willingness to take a hard look at their clients’ company business model through the uncolored spectacles of objective perspective, allowing for a comprehensive overview.
  • To glimpse an overview which illuminates everything that makes the business tick – and sometimes some things that don’t – so that the agency can design a focused prescription for success.

Troy believes the saying that “prescription without diagnosis is malpractice.” He says that, in order to design a plan that will ensure success, “We have to have an in-depth understanding of the nuts and bolts of the business that we are serving, as well as their challenges and goals. Such a perspective will allow us to come up with the most effective way possible of using existing resources to stabilize and grow the bottom line.”

The following is a partial list of some of the wonderful businesses that we have had the pleasure of working with.
